Bhubaneswar: The ST & SC Development Department will feature the Gadaba tribe tomorrow as part of its weekly virtual tour of the Odisha State Tribal Museum.

Prof AB Ota, Director of the SC & ST Research and Training Institute (SCSTRTI) in Bhubaneswar, said the department will create a virtual display of Gadaba dwellings on social media sites. The virtual tour may be accessed through the @stscdev, @scstrti Facebook and Twitter profiles, he added.

Prof Ota claims that the Gadaba tribals, who inhabit primarily in the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur, construct their homes in two rows facing each other. They maintain a certain amount of space between the rows and each dwelling.

The home, which Gadabas refers to as Chhendi Dien, is round in shape with a conical roof supported by a central wooden pole. There are three rooms in the house: a living room, a kitchen, and an interior room where the family deity is worshipped.
