Sundargarh: On Monday, two people were killed and eight others were injured after an ambulance collided with an auto-rickshaw in the Lahunipada area of Sundargarh district.

Some Raikelaposh residents were returning to their village from the weekly haat in Bonai when a speeding ambulance struck head-on with a three-wheeler on a bridge near Poi hamlet, according to sources.

Following the crash, the automobiles plunged 20 feet beneath the bridge. The ambulance driver was able to flee the scene. The vehicles have been seized, and a case has been filed.

Malati Kisan and Priyanka Sahu have been recognised as the victims. After their health worsened, two of the eight injured were admitted to the Rourkela hospital. The others are being treated at the district headquarters hospital in Sundargarh.
