Phulbani: On Tuesday, a passenger bus skidded off the road in a hilly area of Odisha's Kandhamal district, injuring around 40 people, some of whom were critically.
According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred near Mundasahi, under the jurisdiction of the Kotagarh police station, while the private bus was traveling from Muniguda to Phulbani.
Following the receipt of information, police and fire personnel rushed to the scene and rescued the passengers.
According to sources, the injured passengers were subsequently rushed to a hospital in Kotagarh, where some were said to be in critical condition.
While the exact cause of the accident was unknown, the bus's tyre was suspected to have burst after colliding with an object on the road. More information is awaited.
