BEO office Sr. Clerk caught taking bribe in Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: Odisha Vigilance sleuths in Jharsuguda district apprehended a Senior Clerk in the office of a Block Education Officer (BEO) for allegedly taking a Rs 5,000 bribe to release a teacher's arrear bill for maternity leave.

Saroj Kanta Nayak, Senior Clerk at BEO's Kirimira office, was identified as the accused.

Nayak was apprehended while demanding and accepting Rs 5,000 from a complainant to facilitate the release of his spouse's arrear bill for maternity leave, according to a Vigilance release.

The entire bribe sum was recovered and seized from the accused.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at two Nayak locations from the Disproportionate Assets angle.

A case has been opened, and an investigation is underway. A detailed report is being prepared.
