Jharsuguda: Dismissed Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Gopal Das, accused of murdering Odisha Health Minister Naba Das on January 29, was transferred from Jharsuguda to Choudwar Circle Jail for security reasons.

According to sources, the Prisons Department had requested that the accused be transferred to the Choudwar Circle Jail for security reasons. After the jail department obtained permission from the court, the process of relocating him began.

Gopal Das was brought before the JMFC court in Jharsuguda before being taken to Choudwar. They said he was moved from Jharsuguda jail with the permission of the court.

According to reports, the accused's statement was also recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC.

Previously, the Jail DG had approved the proposal to transfer the accused from Jharsuguda sub-jail, where he had been lodged after returning to Odisha following polygraph and narco-analysis tests on Friday and Saturday at the Directorate of Forensic Sciences in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

The jail authorities then petitioned the Jharsuguda High Court to allow the transfer.

Gopal was produced before the JMFC court in Jharsuguda the same day his third phase remand ended. He was then transferred to the sub-jail.

According to the lie-detection and narco-analysis tests, Gopal claimed that he skipped his bipolar disorder medications for over two months in order to build up his rage against Naba, whom he considered to be highly corrupt.
