Rayagada: In the Rayagada area of Odisha, up to 41 boarded-out female students from a government high school have tested positive for COVID.

The authorities conducted their test on August 3 after some Government Girls' High School pupils who were sleeping in a dormitory at Chandrapur in the same district block complained of illness. The test results showed that 12 kids have the COVID virus.

On Thursday, 29 more kids who had undergone COVID testing also had coronavikrus infections, bringing the total number of sick students to 41. The district welfare office, part of the SC/ST department, is in charge of running the school.

District welfare officer Ashok Kumar Satpathy stated all the affected students have been kept in isolation while speaking to the media. Their status was steady, so there was no reason for concern, he continued.

The remaining kids residing in the Chandrapur School dormitory will also be tested, Satpathy said, adding that the headmasters of all high schools within the department in the district have been instructed to remain vigilant about any potential illness transmission. The hostels are home to about 300 school pupils.

To stop the disease's spread, all corrective actions are being implemented in accordance with state government regulations, he added.
