Bhubaneswar: 5G services would be launched in Odisha in the first phase before January 26, 2023, declared Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday at the foundation stone laying event to renovate Bhubaneswar Railway Station.

A survey was carried out in all of Odisha's villages where mobile towers were not present. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi had demanded that high-quality 4G/5G services be provided in all communities," Vaishnaw stated.

He went on to say that it had previously been claimed that Odisha was not receiving adequate cash for developing telecom services. Odisha has received a total of Rs 5,600 crore from the Centre for telecom services.

On October 16, the Minister stated that 5G telephony services will be accessible in four cities of Odisha by March 2023, and that 80 percent of the state will have access to the improved network by the end of next year.

5G is projected to benefit telecom customers by providing service at ten times the speed of 4G. According to experts, a file that takes 56 hours to download on a 2G network, two hours on a 3G network, and 40 minutes on a 4G network will take only 35 seconds on a 5G network.
