Assistant Engineer Caught Taking Bribe In Ganjam

Berhampur: On Monday night, vigilance officers detained an assistant engineer in the Ganjam district of Odisha who was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000.

Bansidhar Parida has been named as the assistant engineer.

The assistant engineer was reportedly captured in a trap set by the Vigilance detectives as he was allegedly taking bribe money from a contractor to facilitate the release of his bill for the supply cost of morrum material for road building under the MGNREGA programme.

In accordance with Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act of 2018, a case has been filed, and searches have been conducted simultaneously at two sites to look for disproportionate assets.
