Bhubaneswar: Odisha's ten districts have received ballot papers for the upcoming panchayat elections.

The ballot papers were sent out by the State Election Commission (SEC) on Monday.

Ward member, sarpanch, and panchayat samiti member ballot papers have been sent out. On the 19th and 21st of January, the remaining 20 districts in the state will get ballot papers.

On Monday, the first day of filing nominations, 8,772 sets of paperwork were filed.

According to the SEC, 7,116 nominations were filed for ward member positions out of the total nominations filed on the day.

There were 1,122 nomination papers for sarpanch positions and 512 nomination papers for panchayat samiti member positions.

On the first day, 22 nominations for zilla parishad member positions were filed in the state.

Candidates can file nominations from January 17 to 21, according to the SEC's schedule, and papers will be scrutinised on January 22. The deadline for withdrawing nominations is January 25, and the final candidate list will be announced on the same day.

From February 16 to 24, Odisha's three-tier panchayat elections will be held in five phases. The results will be announced on the 26th, 27th, and 28th of February.
