Bhubaneswar: The State Election Commission (SEC) has asked the Balangir district collector for a report on claims that the sarpanch position in Bileisarda village, Puintala block, was "auctioned."

Following claims that Sushant Kumar Chhatria "won the post for Rs 44,000 in an auction," the SEC issued an order.

"I have received information in this regard, and an investigation is underway." "By Tuesday, a report would be delivered to the SEC," said Balangir district collector Chanchal Rana, according to media reports.

On Friday, an alleged "auction" took place at a gramme sabha meeting.

Chhatria told a local news station that he has promised to contribute Rs 44,000 for the Jagannath temple's development. "I have agreed to pay on the condition that no one contests against me," Chhatria said, according to reports.
