Biswabhusan Harichandan now Chhattisgarh Governor

New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan has been appointed as the nominal executive head of Chhattisgarh, with President Droupadi Murmu approving reshuffles and new appointments in 12 states on Sunday.

Harichandan, a senior BJP leader, was appointed Governor of Andhra Pradesh in 2019.

Following Murmu's acceptance of Bhagat Singh Koshyari's resignation following a recent controversy over his remark about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais has been appointed as the new governor of Maharashtra. Koshyari had last month told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he wished to step down from the top post and "spend the rest of his life in reading, writing and other leisurely activities".

The President also appointed a new Lieutenant Governor for the Union Territory of Ladakh. While accepting the resignation of Radha Krishnan Mathur, she appointed Brig. (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd), Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, as Lt Governor of Ladakh, an official release said.
