Bus plunges down gorge in Dhenkanal, 20 opera singers injured

Dhenkanal: On Thursday morning, a bus transporting members of an opera company collided with a gorge in the region, injuring around 20 people.
The accident occurred on the way to perform jatra from Kankadahada to Palasa Bahal in Deogarh district. The driver lost control of the vehicle when it crossed Jarada ghat under Parjang police station, and the bus crashed down the gorge. The bus was carrying around 40 opera performers.
Locals pulled the injured passengers off the bus and took them to Kamakshyanagar Sub-Divisional Hospital after the tragedy. Four passengers were said to be in critical condition.
According to the passengers, the accident occurred because the driver of the ill-fated bus was drunk and thus lost control.
