Car, truck collide head-on in Khordha; 3 killed

Khurda: In the wee hours of Wednesday in the Bolagarh block of Odisha's Khurda district, a car collided head-on with a truck on National Highway 57 near Panchukota, killing three people.

According to sources, the vehicle with the Gujarat licence plate was travelling from Bhubaneswar to Nayagarh.

In addition to the three people who died, the disaster also left one other person critically injured.

The discovery of Lord Jagannath's prasad in the vehicle led to the preliminary conclusion that all three were inhabitants of Gandhinagar, Gujarat, and were on their way home from Puri. Their identity hasn't been determined yet, though.

Bolagarh Police came at the scene after being alerted and removed the dead. The injured individual and the bodies were sent to the hospital for the district's administrative centre.

Police have taken both automobiles into custody and are looking into what happened.
