Union Minister Bishweswar Tudu Gets Interim Bail from Orissa High Court

Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court granted interim bail to Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs and Jal Shakti Bishweswar Tudu on Wednesday in connection with the assault on two state government officers case.

While granting bail, the High Court ordered Tudu to cooperate with authorities investigating the case filed against him in Mayurbhanj district's Baripada. The court set March 8 as the date for the next hearing in the case.

Tudu, who represents Mayurbhanj in the Lok Sabha, allegedly assaulted District Planning Board Deputy Director Ashwini Mallik and Assistant Director Debashis Mohapatra on January 21 while the latter was on his way to a meeting with the former at his office in Baripada.

Both officials were hurt, with one of them breaking his arm.

Tudu had denied the allegations, claiming that they were the result of a plot by the ruling BJD to frame him in false cases.

Previously, the high court granted interim bail to BJP MP Jual Oram, who is accused of harassment by a female party activist.
