Chitrakonda SDPO's Abuse to Tribal Women: Case Filed in Court
Malkangiri: Anshuman Dwivedi, a senior police officer in Chitrakonda, has come under fire for allegedly abusing four tribal women during a raid in the Malkangiri district of Odisha last month. On Thursday, the victims filed a lawsuit against the senior police officer in local courts in this city.
According to Malkangiri District Congress Committee President and attorney Govind Chandra Patra, the complaints have been filed under the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act at the Court of District and Sessions Judge and under Sections 506, 323 and 354 of the IPC at the SDJM Court.
He continued, "A fact-finding team from the Pradesh Congress Committee has looked into the complaint.
Patra had also complained about this on June 13 to the Malkangiri SP.
In the Chitrakonda area on June 7 night, the SDPO is accused of assaulting four tribal women, including a pregnant woman, and children on the grounds that they were engaged in ganja trafficking. The victims needed medical attention after suffering injuries.
Notably, the opposition BJP and Congress in the legislature raised a ruckus on Wednesday about the alleged police brutality at RAC-13 village and announced a Crime Branch investigation into the event.
