Rayagada: A government school gate crashed on a Class V girl student, killing her, on Friday in the Rayagada district of Odisha.
Ahuti Sabar has been recognised as the student who passed away.
Sources claim that the accident happened at the Upper Primary School in Birikot's Padmapur block while the pupils were leaving the school for recess.
When the pillar supporting the iron gate gave way, the building fell on the girl as she was leaving. She suffered serious injuries and was taken by the 108 Ambulance service to the government hospital in Padmapur. She was later transferred to the sub-divisional hospital in Gunupur, where she passed away while receiving treatment for her wounds.
Villagers and parents were outraged by the tragedy and requested a comprehensive investigation into the conditions that resulted in the accident. They recommended that the district government launch an investigation right away and prosecute those involved.
