State capital witnesses IAF's Suryakiran air show

Bhubaneswar: On Friday, the Indian Air Force (IAF) Suryakiran aerobatic team performed an air show in Odisha to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the war's decisive triumph in 1971.

At 10 a.m. today, nine red and white Hawk aircrafts dazzling the city sky over the Kuakhai River near Balijatra Ground. They performed a variety of aerobatic tricks, formations that flew inverted, dove, and climbed, and other aerial dances.

About 30 to 45 minutes of the show were still left.

A audience of 50,000 people, including the governor and chief minister of Odisha, Prof. Ganeshi Lal, watched the IAF's Suryakiran air display in the state capital.

The head of Eastern Air Command, Air Marshal DK Patnaik, also went to the air exhibitions.

The Commissionerate Police set up a complex system to control the throng during the performance. 100 additional cops were put on duty while up to 15 platoons of police were deployed.

On Sunday in Puri, the Suryakiran aerobatic team will also perform over Raj Bhawan.
