Bhubaneswar: Senior Congressman and MLA Suresh Routray stated on Friday that the BJD president's political career was established with the consent of the BJP in a vicious attack on Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The fiery leader criticised BJD leaders for lumping together the Congress and the BJP and demanded that the regional party acknowledge that Naveen's political career was entirely dependent on the saffron party.

The Jatni legislator asserted that Atal Bihar Vajpayee's blessings were responsible for Naveen's entry into politics and claimed that the ruling BJD in the state has consistently backed all laws and policies of the BJP-led government at the federal level because of its allegiance to the saffron party.

Speaking to reporters, he asserted that by supporting the erroneous policies of the Centre, the BJD government has done a great deal of harm to the state and its residents.

According to Routray, Naveen played a key role in securing Ashwini Vaishnaw's appointment as the minister of railways since his party sent him to the Rajya Sabha on the orders of senior BJP figures. Routray added that "all these adequately prove that BJD and BJP are together."

The Congress spokesman noted that BJD and BJP had a nine-year coalition government in the state that shared power, and he claimed that before restricting himself to state politics, Naveen served as a Union Minister in the BJP-led administration after entering politics.

Elections in 2024 will reveal BJD. People will find out who is with the BJP, Routray said, urging Naveen to renounce his allegiance in the face of huge price increases and rising unemployment for which both the federal government and the state's BJD government share responsibility.

Routray asserted that Naveen's main concern was a potential threat from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), and that the BJD president's wealth is the reason he is terrified of the ED.

It will be a good fight if Naveen, Dharmendra, and OPCC President Sarat Pttanayak head their respective parties in the next elections, the Congress leader said in response to a question on Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan running from Dhenkanal.

However, he bemoaned the fact that Dharmendra was not performing the function that was expected of him in the state and refrained from attending the most recent three-day training session held by the saffron party in Puri.

He claimed that Congress is reviving itself as a tenacious political force as a result of the "Bharat Jodo Yatra" that the party organised under Rahul Gandhi's leadership. He also claimed that the party organisation is being strengthened and that 80% of the youth will be given the opportunity to closely associate themselves in party affairs.
