Former TN DGP JK Tripathy appointed Odisha CIC

Bhubaneswar: On Tuesday the former DGP of Tamil Nadu Jalad Kumar Tripathy was sworn in as the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) of Odisha.

At the presence of Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister, Gov. Prof. Ganeshi Lal gave an office oath to Tripathy at an office in Raj Bhawan.

TN cadre' IPS officer (retd) in 1985 was named to the CIC office, which was vacant on 15 August of this year following the withdrawal of Sunil Mishra.

Also the police commissioner from Chennai was Tripathy, who retired as a DGP on June 30.

He was born in Bheda, district of Cuttack, and served in sensitive TN postings such as IGP South. He was assigned in the CID and Economic Offences Wing Crime Branch and became famous for the robbery of Chennai Bank in 2012.
