Bhubaneswar: Because the state government expects a large number of visitors to the planetariums during the weekend, which also happens to be New Year's Day, the facilities will be closed for three days.

As a preventive measure against the spread of the novel COVID variant Omicron, the Pathani Samanta Planetarium in Bhubaneswar and the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Planetarium in Burla in Sambalpur district will be closed to guests from December 31 to January 2.

In light of big gatherings at various locations ahead of New Year's Eve, the administration has already outlawed Zero Night celebrations in the state and imposed limitations as a preventive measure.

On December 31, January 1 and 2, worshipers will be unable to enter the Jagannath Temple in Puri due to restrictions imposed on them. In addition, due to an increase in daily COVID cases attributable to the Omicron strain, no public darshan would be allowed at Maa Mangala Temple in Kakatpur on January 1 and 2.
