Koraput: Police in Lamataput recovered 5 tonnes of ganja packed in 223 gunny bags in Tikaput hamlet in the district and arrested three people, two of them were from Uttar Pradesh.
When authorities discovered the contraband, it was being trafficked into Chhattisgarh and was valued at Rs 5 crore.
The ganja was being smuggled in a salt-laden truck when Lamtaput police, led by Nandapur SDPO, intercepted the vehicle and recovered the contraband after a search, according to police.
Sudarshan Lendur of Machkund, as well as Umesh Babu and Singhpal of Uttar Pradesh, were arrested. Two more people bolted from the scene.
