Odisha Seeks GI Tag For Products Made of Golden Grass
Bhubaneswar: The State Cooperative Handcraft Corporation has applied to the Geographical Indications Registry for a GI tag for an Odisha golden grass handicraft.
P Sanjay Gandhi, an IP attorney, filed the application on behalf of the company.
Golden grass was traditionally used to build 'pedis' (boxes) and 'dalas' because of its smooth, glossy, and golden appearance (baskets). Trays, mats, pen stands, backpacks, and jewellery are all created of golden grass nowadays.
