Bhubaneswar: At the Kalinga Hockey Stadium in the city on Friday evening, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will honour Odia para-shuttler Pramod Bhagat, who has made the country proud by winning a gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympics.

He has already been awarded a financial prize of Rs 6 crore and a Group A position by the Odisha government.

According to a government statement, media engagement with Bhagat will take place after the chief minister departs the stadium due to COVID rules.

When he defeated Great Britain's Daniel Bathell in two consecutive games in the Men's Singles SL3 final in Tokyo on September 4, the reigning world champion became India's first-ever para-badminton gold medallist at the Paralympics.
