Koraput: On Thursday, a goods train derailed near Sivalingapuram Yard in the Odisha-Andhra border area, disrupting rail traffic and forcing the cancellation of a train on the route.

According to sources, no one was injured when eight loaded trains of the goods train from Bacheli to Visakhapatnam derailed near Sivalingpuram Yard before Tunnel-7 in the Sivalingapuram-Boddavara section.

Accident relief trains from Koraput and Visakhapatnam arrive on the scene to coordinate restoration efforts. DRM Waltair Anup Satpathy also rushed to the scene to oversee relief efforts.

The restoration work is being done on a war footing. Normal train movement is expected to be restored in 36 hours.

Following the derailment, the Visakhapatnam-Kirandul train 08551 was cancelled before it began on Thursday and the passengers' fares were refunded. Passengers were refunded, and online ticket holders were advised to file an online TDR for refunds. According to the sources, the Kirandul-Visakhapatnam night express was cut short at Koraput.
