Bhubaneswar: According to the India Meteorological Department, heavy rain is expected to lash Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, and Jagatsinghpur until 8.30 a.m. on Monday due to a low-pressure region over north Telangana and its surroundings.

Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, which are twin cities, are also expected to see rain around this time.

During the next 24 hours, heavy rain will pelt Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore (from 8.30 am on Monday to 8.30 am on Tuesday).

During this time, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely in several parts of North Odisha, South coastal Odisha, and a few parts of South Interior Odisha.

The Special Relief Commission (SRC) has asked all collectors in these districts to keep a careful eye on and monitor the situation in light of the impending severe rain.

On Wednesday, the Met Office issued a thunderstorm (yellow) warning for one or two locations in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi.

Light to moderate rain will continue to fall in the state until 8.30 a.m. on Friday, according to the forecast.
