Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure system is expected to build over the north Bay of Bengal and its environs in the next 48 hours, bringing heavy rain to several portions of Odisha starting Tuesday.

While a monsoon trough spans from Ganganagar to the north-east Bay of Bengal, a cyclonic circulation with a southerly tilt rests over the north Bay of Bengal and its environs, according to the India Meteorological Department's Regional Centre in its mid-day bulletin on Monday. A low-pressure area is expected to form over the north Bay of Bengal and its environs around July 28 as a result of its effect.

The system will bring heavy rain to Odisha, with isolated heavy to very heavy rain, starting in the afternoon of July 27 and lasting till the morning of July 31, according to the report.

The following districts have been issued a yellow warning due to the heavy rain.

The districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Khurda, Puri, Boudh, and Nayagarh were hit by a thunderstorm with lightning on July 26.

28th of July, Over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, and Dhenkanal, heavy to very heavy rainfall has fallen in one or two spots. Over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, and Sambalpur, there has been heavy rainfall in one or two spots.

29th of July, Over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj, heavy to very heavy rainfall has fallen in one or two spots. Over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Bargarh, and Dhenkanal, there was heavy rainfall in one or two spots.

30th of July, Over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, and Keonjhar, heavy to very heavy rainfall has fallen in one or two spots. Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, and Angul districts have received heavy rains in one or two places.
