Sambalpur: Authorities at the Hirakud Dam want to open four sluice gates on Monday to let extra water out of the reservoir after a lot of rain. The gates will gradually open starting at 10 am.
At 6 a.m. on Monday, the reservoir's water level was 629.27 feet higher than its 630-foot storage limit. The output is 40,680 cusecs while the input is 91,508 cusecs of water.
Heavy rainfall is expected in the state from Monday through Thursday as a result of a potential low-pressure system that is expected to form over the northwest and adjacent westcentral Bay of Bengal off the coasts of Odisha and West Bengal.
