Balangir: On Tuesday, police in the district recovered a large quantity of Eskuf syrup used for intoxication and arrested two people in connection with it.
Belpada police raided the area after receiving information that two people, named as Babuli Prusty of Belpada block headquarters and Kamal Nag of Tara village, were involved in a smuggling ring of cough syrup and drunkenness medicines.
During the raid, the police seized 190 bottles of Eskuf cough syrup, two strips of Anzolam tablets, a motorcycle and Rs 40,000 in cash in the possession of the two accused, said Belpada OIC Bulu Munda.
The police have registered a case and forwarded the arrested persons to court, the OIC added.
