Rourkela: On Sunday night, the logistics manager of Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) was allegedly battered to death in his room at the company's guest house in Barshuan, which falls within the Sundargarh district's Lahunipada police station limits.
Motilal Pal has been recognised as the deceased.
According to reports, Pal had been living alone at Jindal's guest house for several days, after being reappointed as logistics manager at the company's Barsuan mines in the district following his retirement.
When the waiter went to bring Pal tea this morning, he discovered him in a pool of blood and called the police.
Jindal officials and Lahunipara police responded after being notified. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and an investigation has begun.
Though the actual cause of the heinous crime has yet to be determined, a conflict over mining and siding is likely to have resulted in the murder.
