Ravenshaw Students Celebrate On Campus Despite Government Caution and Rising Omicron Cases

Cuttack: Hundreds of Ravenshaw University students gathered on campus on Thursday night for revelry on the final day of the annual athletic meet, despite mounting Omicron cases and the state government warning people not to breach COVID laws. In a video, the students can be seen dancing.

All COVID protocols are in place on campus, according to university officials.

According to DCP (Cuttack) Prateek Singh, the police would take action and issue a showcause notice to the university.

Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has yet to respond to the allegations.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has appealed to people to follow COVID norms as Omicron instances grow and the year draws to a close.

The state government has declared zero night and New Year's celebrations illegal.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who presided over a high-level conference on Thursday, urged officials to remain alert and watchful as the number of Omicron cases in India surpassed 300.

The Prime Minister stated that the struggle against the pandemic was far from done, and that India needed to stay "satark" (alert) and "saavdhaan" (vigilant).
