Make-In-Odisha: Nine countries to attend conclave

Bhubaneswar: Nine countries have agreed to participate in the third edition of the 'Make in Odisha' conclave, which will be held in Bhubaneswar from November 30 to December 4.

According to Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary of Industries, three countries have already agreed to cooperate in the huge investment event and participate in the conclave.

The third edition of the state's flagship biannual investors' forum, in conjunction with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, is set to take place at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar (FICCI).

Aside from these three, representatives from six other nations, including Singapore, Nepal, and Australia, are expected to participate. According to Sharma, the cooperation will strengthen relations between Odisha and the countries as the state seeks greater involvement to attract global investment.

On November 30, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will open the event and the industrial fair. The next day, he will hold a plenary session with CXOs and business executives from around the world.

At the carnival, an international pavilion will be built up for collaborating countries and overseas delegations, and the Janata Maidan ground will be transformed into a modern, cutting-edge venue.

There will include an exhibition centre, a plenary hall, five session halls, a chief minister's room, and a VIP lounge, as well as a media lounge, food court, and a grand stage for cultural events. The venue's two enormous anamorphic screens and six pods will showcase Odisha's culture, heritage, and industrial might.

Following the conclave's opening, three days of sessions on emerging sectors, employment, business leadership talks, and showcasing Odisha's value propositions will be held.

The final day will have no sessions, but the expo will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 9.30 p.m., with mega cultural events planned in the evening.

Business leadership discussions will bring together CXOs, strategists, and entrepreneurs to discuss current and emerging business prospects.

The event is expected to draw around 25,000 people. Priority will be given to industries that create more jobs. According to officials, the emphasis will be on establishing industries using the raw materials available in the state.

Previously, the conclave was held in 2016 and 2018. The state received around 120 investment intents worth over Rs. 2 lakh crore in the 2016 edition. Over 270 exhibitors took part in the event, which drew over 18500 visitors. In 2018, the state got investment intentions of over Rs. 4 lakh crore and saw over 51,000 visitors.

The Chief Minister has launched the website and app for the Make in Odisha Conclave-2022 and has directed that all departments work together to ensure the success of the business summit.
