Deogarh: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik presented smart health cards to district beneficiaries via virtual mode on Saturday as part of the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY).

After Puri, Malkangiri, Sundargarh, Balangir, and Gajapati, Deogarh is the state's sixth district where smart health cards have been distributed. The BSKY cards are projected to help around 2.70 lakh individuals in Deogarh.

According to a notification from the chief minister's office, over 10 lakh people have received smart cards, and 10,567 of them have taken use of treatments worth over Rs 20 crore in private hospitals.

The chief minister also laid the foundation stone for other projects worth Rs 136 crore. The initiatives are expected to cost roughly Rs 700 crore in total. A drinking water project in Deogarh town and a 300-bed hospital in the area were among the initiatives for which Naveen lay the foundation stone.

BSKY smart cards will help roughly 3.5 crore people from 96 families in the state, according to the chief minister. He went on to say that the administration wants to provide free health care to the entire population.

Naba Das and Dibya Shankar Mishra, as well as politician Subash Panigrahy, spoke at the event.
