ONGC Chopper crash: one Odia among 4 dead in crash off Mumbai coast

Bhubaneswar: One of the four people killed on Tuesday after a Pawan Hans helicopter ditched in the Arabian Sea not far from the Sagar Kiran oil rig off Mumbai High was Satyambad Patra, an Odisha geologist.

Patra hailed from the Odisha province of Malkangiri.

Sanju Francis, Vijay Mandloi, and Mukesh Patel were named as the other fatalities.

They were taken from the water to Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital, where medical staff pronounced them dead.

Six ONGC employees, a corporate contractor, and two pilots were all present in the helicopter.

"The 9 people on the chopper were all saved. Unfortunately, four of them lost the fight for life after being transported unconscious to the Mumbai base and sent to the hospital. ONGC expresses its profound sorrow over this tragedy in a tweet.
