Keonjhar: Keonjhar Sadar BJP MLA Charan Majhi sustained a tight rib in a Sunday bombing assault.

Majhi said the media that two born bikes thrown two bombs in the country near Mandua, while returning from a public gathering, under the Town Police Limits in a vehicle.

"I went to the Siksha Vikash Samiti headquarters in the vicinity of Mandua to attend the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh Executive Meeting. I was on my way to my residence in Mandua after the conference when my vehicle was stopped by two youngsters. One of them came out of his motorcycle in a black shirt and hit my car with two explosives. He also tried to take a gun out, but my PSO drove him away. Then they ran to the station," he added.

It was at 12:55 that the event took place.

Though Majhi and his driver suffered no injuries while part of the front panel of the car was destroyed during the attack.

The MLA further alleged that Raja Chakra, the local BJD leader, had posed a threat to him when addressing a party meeting on Sadar Block three weeks ago. "His followers may have tried to assassinate me, I believe," he remarked.

He submitted a complaint with Keonjhar Town Police and the two crooks established two special squads, according to sources.

The event resulted in a high level of tension in Keonjhar City when hundreds of BJP supporters blocked Gandhi Chhak by burning tyres on the National Highway 49.

The activists at BJP requested the immediate arrest and said that the road blockade would remain until the police can guarantee them that action is taken and that their leader is well secured.

Chakra called for a thorough inquiry into the event and for the quick arrest of the person charged when he found the claims of his involvement in the attack on Majhi untrue and groundless.
