Odisha Governor and Union Minister Paid Last Respect To Jayanti Patnaik
Bhubaneswar: At her residence in Bhubaneswar on Thursday, prominent members of Odisha and national politicians paid their final respects to the wife of former MP and former chief minister Janaki Ballav Pattnaik. She passed away on Wednesday evening.
The distinguished individuals who paid tribute to Jayanti at her residence in the city's Forest Park neighbourhood included Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, national vice-president of the BJP Baijayant Panda, state BJP leader Prithviraj Harichandan, and PCC president of Odisha Sarat Patnaik.
A group of senior members of the Congress, led by former OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik, MLAs Suresh Routray and Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, as well as other members, visited her home to leave floral condolences for the deceased.
The governor told the reporters that she will receive benefits for her soul. She will certainly live on in memory for a very long time.
She was a highly effective leader and a representation of female empowerment. In order to continue her work in this area, I hope the next generation would be motivated by her principles and follow in her footsteps, said Soumya Ranjan.
The body will be transported to Congress Bhavan in accordance with the cremation schedule so that party members can pay their respects. After that, it would be transported to Swargadwar in Puri for the afternoon's final ceremonies.
On Wednesday night, Jayanti passed away at home. 90 years old. There were several people present when she passed away, including her son Prithviballav Patnaik, daughter Sudatta Patnaik, son-in-law Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, and others.
Both Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and President Droupadi Murmu have sent their condolences to Jayanti's family.
