Odisha adds Sanitary Pads In Flood Relief Items

Bhubaneswar: The administration of 10 districts in Odisha has been ordered to make sure that women in marooned communities have access to sanitary pads in order to maintain menstrual hygiene.

The collectors of Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, and Boudh have received letters from the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) on this. "For women and girls who are marooned due to flooding, proper medical treatment and sanitary measures are necessary. You are therefore respectfully requested to direct CDMO to obtain sanitary/hygienic items as urgent aid (emergency sanitation measures) and distribute them to women and girls in the marooned areas. The cost of such an expense shall be met by SRC out of SDRF, according to the letter.

Women and girls had already pushed the administration to supply sanitary pads along with other relief supplies in media interviews.
