Bhubaneswar: More rains are expected in numerous districts of Odisha as a result of cyclonic circulation over the Gangetic West Bengal and its environs.
In most of the districts, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre has projected light to moderate rains and thundershowers.
Heavy to very heavy rains are expected to hammer the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Dhenkanal over the next 24 hours. Heavy rain is also expected in the districts of Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, and Jharsuguda. The forecast is valid through Tuesday at 8.30 a.m.
Thunderstorms with lightning have also been reported, according to the Met Centre.
During the same era, in one or two locations across the districts of Khurda, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, and Boudh.
From the mornings of September 22 and 23, a yellow alert has been issued for many districts. Heavy rainfall is expected in most parts of the districts of Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Angul, Bargarh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Deogarh, and Sundargarh.
Thunderstorms and lightning are expected in Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Sonepur, and Boudh, among other areas.
The weather is expected to continue unfavourable, with heavy rain expected in one or two locations across the districts of Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Balangir on September 23 and 24 morning.
According to the Met Office, Bhubaneswar will remain cloudy with one or two bouts of rain or thundershowers.
Around September 25, another cyclonic circulation is expected to form over Eastcentral and adjacent Northeast Bay of Bengal, moving west-northwestwards and reaching the Odisha coast in the next 48 hours. A new round of heavy rain is expected to fall on Odisha starting September 26.
