Schools, colleges reopen in Odisha amid dip in Covid-19 cases

Bhubaneswar: On Monday, educational institutions in Odisha restarted physical education sessions after a nearly month-long hiatus.

For students in Class VIII and above, schools, colleges, ITIs, polytechnics, professional institutions, and universities have reopened. On Sunday, colleges and universities reopened their dorms.

Classes for grades I through VII, on the other hand, will resume on February 14. Students in these classes have been out of school for about two years.

The decision to reopen schools was made in the wake of a consistent drop in COVID-19 and Omicron cases throughout the state, as well as the early recovery of individuals who had been infected.

Students can choose between offline and online instruction, according to the order. Educational institutions will have to offer hybrid teaching choices to pupils.

Class times in schools under the School and Mass Education Department are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for students in classes VIII to XII, and 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. for students in classes I to VII.

Physical education lessons for students in grades I through II have resumed in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, and Bihar.

Classes for Nursery to Standard VIII will resume on February 14 in Delhi as well.

Notably, the Centre proposed reopening schools in districts with a positive rating of less than 5% last week.
