Malkangiri: Rama Prasad Patnaik, a senior Congress official from Malkangiri district and former working president of the Zilla Congress Committee, has resigned from the party's primary membership, claiming personal reasons.

He was a member of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) and the Pradesh Working Committee at the time of his death.

Patnaik began his political career as a Student Congress leader in 1984, according to a letter he wrote to OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik on Wednesday.

“During my time in the Congress, I held several positions in the Students' Congress, Youth Congress, District Congress, and Pradesh Congress, and I performed my tasks dutifully and efficiently. He continued, "I am extremely grateful to the party leadership for providing me with a unique identity."
