Bhubaneswar: According to the India Meteorological Department, four districts in southern Odisha are anticipated to see very heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours (IMD).

In its evening bulletin, the regional IMD centre issued an orange warning for the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, and Gajapati. In one or two locations in these districts, it predicted heavy to extremely heavy rains, warning of the possibility of land slides in exposed steep terrain.

The IMD has issued yellow warnings for many state districts due to the likelihood of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over the next four days.

According to the Met Office, there is a cyclonic circulation over the northwest and adjacent westcentral Bay of Bengal, off the coasts of south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh, that extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.

It further stated that the monsoon trough stretches up to 1.5 km above mean sea level and goes through Jaisalmer, Kota, Jabalpur, Pendra Road, Kalingapatnam, the adjacent westcentral Bay of Bengal, and eastward to the eastcentral Bay of Bengal.
