State Health Department Seeks District-Wise Data Of Children In 15-18 Age

Bhubaneswar: On Sunday, the state Health Department revealed that it had sought data from teenagers aged 15 to 18 in Odisha, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement that children will be vaccinated beginning January 3.

"We've been looking for information on children aged 15 to 18 years old by district. On Sunday, state Health Services Director Bijay Mohapatra remarked, "We have enough people to undertake the vaccine push."

Modi also declared that beginning January 10, senior pensioners and frontline workers will receive booster doses. The state Health Department, according to Mohapatra, will plan accordingly once the precise guidelines are obtained.

The Prime Minister's declaration came as the number of Omicron cases in the country increased.

Covaxin, a drug developed by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech, was approved by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) on Saturday for emergency use in children aged 12 to 18.
