Suryabanshi Surja takes oath as Dhamnagar MLA
Bhubaneswar: Suryabansi Suraj, the newly elected MLA of Dhamnagar in Odisha's Bhadrak district, took his oath in the Assembly on Wednesday.
Suryabansi was sworn in by Assembly Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha in the presence of prominent members of the House. Following the oath, the MLA sought the Speaker's blessing. Opposition Leader and senior BJP leader Jay Narayan Mishra and other party leaders were present.
Before taking the oath of office, Suryabansi visited the party's state headquarters in Bhubaneswar, where he was greeted warmly. The BJP leaders presented him with floral bouquets to express their congratulations.
Speaking on the occasion, the new MLA expressed gratitude to state BJP leaders for allowing him to run in the byelection and to the electorate of his constituency for electing him as their representative. "I owe my gratitude to my party and its leaders." I am also grateful to the people of Dhamnagar for their affection and love. I ran for office in a sorrowful and pitiful state soon after my father died. "However, I was successful because of the trust and confidence of the people of Dhamnagar," he remarked.
Suryabansi was elected from Dhamnagar by a margin of more than 9,000 votes over his nearest challenger Abanti Dash of the BJD. The byelection was called after the death of Suryabansi's father, incumbent MLA Bishnu Charan Sethi.
