Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly was adjourned until 4 p.m. on Monday amid a commotion caused by opposition BJP and Congress members over an alleged matric examination question paper leak.

Soon after the House reconvened for the day, lawmakers from both the BJP and the Congress were on their feet, criticizing the state government for allegedly leaking matric exam question papers.

The opposition members rushed to the House well, causing a commotion. They cornered the government over social media reports of matric examination question papers going viral.

As the House descended into chaos, the proceedings came to a halt. Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha adjourned the House until 4 p.m., citing difficulties in conducting business.

While School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash denied allegations of question paper leaks, opposition chief whip Mohan Majhi told reporters outside the House that the Minister was providing false information.

Majhi demanded the resignation of the Minister for alleged mismanagement in the conduct of the matric examinations, accusing Dash of misleading people about question papers that had gone viral.

While speaking to reporters outside the House, senior Congress legislator Tara Prasad Bahinipati claimed that questions were released in a planned manner to benefit certain groups. As a result, the futures of talented and meritorious students are jeopardized, he claimed, calling for a thorough investigation and harsh punishment for those responsible.
