Guesthouse Cook Held Over Murder Of JSPL Manager In Sundargarh

Rourkela: Two days after the alleged murder of Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) logistics manager Motiram Pal, Lahunipara police claimed on Wednesday that they had solved the crime by arresting the cook of the company's guesthouse in Barasuan, Odisha's Sundargarh district.

Sunil Tripathy has been recognised.

According to police sources, Pal had been allegedly mentally tormenting the cook for several months and had threatened to fire him. Tripathy planned to attack Motiram in his sleep and inflict harm on him to settle a score. He had no intention of killing him. However, Pal awoke, and the two got into a fight. To avoid being identified, Triptahy then killed him with a sharp blade.

Pal, the logistics manager of JSPL's TRB mines' Barsuan railway siding, was discovered dead in a pool of blood at the two-room guesthouse on November 7 morning. Police discovered a finger ring on the scene and arrested Tripathy and two other people in connection with the incident.

According to the sources, Tripathy confessed to the crime during interrogation.
