Teacher drowns while trying to save student from river in Odisha

Nayagarh: On Wednesday, a teacher drowned in the Mahanadi River while attempting to save a student at Kantilo in the Khandapada block of Odisha's Nayagarh district.
Saroj Dash (32), the deceased, worked as a teacher at a private educational institution in the Mahakalapada area of the Kendrapara district.
According to accounts, the institution's teachers and students went on a picnic to Kantilo. When some kids were bathing in the river, one of them ventured into deep water, tragedy happened.
Saroj went into the water as well to save the drowning student. However, he drowned in the process.
Locals rescued the instructor and transported him to the Khandapada Community Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead.
