Kalahandi: On Wednesday, vigilance officers raided the homes of Bhawanipatna Municipality Assistant Executive Engineer Samir Kumar Thakur in Odisha's Kalahandi district on suspicion of owning disproportionate assets.
According to sources, a 25-member Jeypore vigilance team led by five DSPs, six Inspectors, and other staff members is conducting simultaneous raids at a three-story building at Mahavirpada, a residential house of a Thakur relative located at Marwaripada in Bhawanipatna, and Thakur's office chamber inside Bhawanipatna Municipality.
The anti-corruption team carried out the raids in accordance with the Special Vigilance Court's orders. Thakur has spent the last 30 years working at the Bhawanipatna municipality office.
During the house searches following are the unearthed assets in the name of Thakur and his family members:
1) A triple-storey building constructed over a plinth area of about 1700 sqft. area vide Khata No. 1458/1462, Plot No.1922/2027, 1921/2026 and 1915 at Mahavirpada in Bhawanipatna.
2) A double-storey building constructed over a plinth area of about 2500 sqft. area over Khata No. 2, Plot No.208 at Irrigation Colony in Bhawanipatna.
3) 3 plots in and around Bhawanipatna.
Details are as under:
i) A piece of land measuring area Ac.0.08 dec. of land vide Khata No. 2, Plot No.208 at Mouza- Bhawanipatna.
ii) A piece of land measuring area Ac.0.10 dec. of land vide Khata No. 171/2272, Plot No.575/3611 at Mouza-Paramanandapur, Bhawanipatna.
iii) A piece of land measuring area Ac.0.5 dec. of land vide Khata No. 171/1418, Plot No.171/2684 at Mouza-Paramanandapur, Bhawanipatna.
The measurement and valuation/assessment of the above buildings/plots is being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing.

5) Bank and Insurance deposits over Rs.40.93 Lakhs.
6) Gold jewellery 244 Gms.
7) A four-wheeler (Hyundai i-20)
Further probe is underway.
