Bhubaneswar: On Friday night, Phulbani shivered at 7 degrees Celsius, the lowest temperature ever recorded in Odisha, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The mercury dropped below 12 degrees Celsius in 12 places as a cold wave swept the state. Daringbadi and Koraput came in second and third, respectively, with 7.5 degrees Celsius, 9.5 degrees Celsius, Titlagarh (9.8), Bhawanipatna (10), Sonepur (10.5), Keonjhar, Angul, and Balangir with 11 degrees Celsius each, Malkangiri (11.5), and Chandbali with 11.5 degrees Celsius (11.6).

The temperature in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack was 13 degrees Celsius, compared to 12.2 and 12 degrees Celsius the night before.
