Van hits tree in Kandhamal; 3 killed 30 hurt

Phulbani: A trolley van reportedly drove into a roadside tree in Kandhamal district on Thursday morning, killing six passengers and injuring over 30 others.
According to sources, the event occurred when approximately 40 individuals from Atali village boarded the 407 van's trolley to attend a wedding function in Madangi village.
The driver lost control of the van as it approached Kutibali village, which is under Kotagad police jurisdiction. On impact, the vehicle overturned.
Six villagers, including three elderly people, perished on the spot, while 30 others were injured. However, the identities of those who died have yet to be determined.
After being notified, Kotagad police and fire officers raced to the scene and initiated a rescue mission. They took the injured to Kotgad hospital with the help of the villagers. The critically injured people were then sent to the Baliguda Sub-Division Hospital and the Bissamcuttack Community Health Centre.
