Woman shot dead while trying to save husband from giving money in Odisha

Nuapada: On Wednesday night in the Nuapada district's Thutibara hamlet, which is inside the Komana police jurisdiction, a woman was shot and killed while attempting to save her husband.
Kumudini Sabar has been named as the deceased.
Sources claim that Nilambar Suna sought Rs 10,000 in extortion money from Kumudini's husband Sarat Sahu. Nilambar threatened to shoot him when the latter declined to pay the ransom.
But when he started shooting at Sahu, Kumudini stepped in to try to protect her husband, and the bullet struck her in the stomach. The accused quickly left the area.
After being alerted, Komana Police went to the scene and found the body. An investigation has been opened into the situation, and actions are being taken to find the accused.
