Dhenkanal: On Saturday, an elephant was discovered dead in a forest in Odisha's Dhenkanal district's Sadar range.
Locals spotted the carcass near Ostapal village and alerted forest officials, who rushed to the scene and began an investigation, according to sources. The pachyderm is thought to be 20 years old. Though the cause of death has not been determined, it is suspected that it died as a result of poisoning.
Postmortem samples were taken from the deceased elephant.
According to the Sadar ranger, the cause of death will be revealed only after the postmortem report is completed.
